Farmer family Bawnboy, Cavan
« on: Tuesday 11 February 20 19:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,
Wondering if anyone has any info on my great grandparents. All I know is my grandfather Patrick Farmer was born in Bawnboy Cavan around 1895 ish  and died in Glasgow 1933.  His parents, my GG parents are Thomas Farmer and Bridget Hoolihan. Patrick married my grandmother Grace Menzies  in Glasgow 1925. My mother Margaret Theresa Farmer is one of two daughters he had before dying young when my mum was just around 5 years old so no info on him or his family back in Bawnboy, Cavan. Would love any additional info anyone would like to share of them please.
Thanks so much in advance
Allison ☺

I think Bridget died 1899 and Thomas remarried
 Bridget Farmer death 1899
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1899/05804/4642360.pdf

Thomas Farmer marriage 1900 wife Isabella
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1899/10400/5786715.pdf

There is a birth of a Francis Farmer in 1900 mother Elizabeth
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1900/02005/1770709.pdf

and there is this family in 1901
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Cavan/Ballyconnell/Doon/1056764/
but again the wife's name is Elizabeth
if the births of the earlier children check out for Bridget than Isabella and Elizabeth are the same person, if not I'm talking rubbish

When you have got all you can out of the Civil Records and Census you can have a look at parish records
I think this is the correct parish
https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0819

Unfortunately they start 1867 so doesn't look good for getting back further but neighbouring parishes may prove useful if your lucky.

This is a good example of how easy and difficult research in Ireland can be, lots of free records but they just don't go back very far.

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

IF I got the correct family in 1901 than I believe this is them in 1911

Leave you to get on with searching.
