seeking a missing John Higson
« on: Wednesday 12 February 20 10:21 GMT (UK) »
John Higson was born 29 Jun 1818 and his baptism took place on 12 Jul 1818 at Newton-Le-Willows, St Peter, Lancashire

1841 living at Bag Lane in Atherton

his first marriage to Betty Brimelow took place on 18 Oct 1846 at Leigh, St Mary, Lancashire

1851 still in Bag Lane, Atherton

his second marriage to Elizabeth Constantine took place on 24 Sept 1859 at Pennington, Wesleyan Chapel, Lancashire

1861 again in Bag Lane, Atherton

1871 sees him living at 10 Cross Street, Bedford, Leigh, Lancashire and here the trail runs cold

I thought he maybe the John Higson who died in Wigan Reg Dist in 1875 aged 57 but that isn't him!

Any ideas most welcome - thank you!  :)

thanks for that - the only conflict is in 1871 he is a widower, cotton weaver, born Newton le Willows, aged 52.

best wishes for posting though!

two possibles are

a) wrong name - John Higham died 1873 Leigh aged 54

b) wrong age - John Higson died 1879 Leigh aged 71

I can't see any other possibilities at this time!  :-\

I note the girls on the 1871 census are with their elder brother Peter in Leigh 1881.

The only other two deaths I can see seem unlikely unless John had a problem and was transferred maybe to a Hospital or to other family members elsewhere?
