Sheffield Electoral roll 1940's onwards
« on: Wednesday 12 February 20 16:02 GMT (UK) »
I have the Warriner family at 151 Fitzhubert Road, Sheffield C.B in 1939.

dad James b 1900
sons James  b 1923
Brian b 1931
Barrie/Barry b 1936

All deceased.

Mum Lilian should be there too but isn't.

It is particularly James b 1923 that I am interested in.
He married Winifred Button in London in 1959,but died there in Jan 1961.
His marriage cert says that his previous marriage was dissolved, but we can't find one!

Does anyone have access to the electoral rolls to follow this family to 1959/60.

Many thanks

Carol

There were no Electoral Rolls during WW2 - that would have been giving information to the enemy! :o

Maybe 1946 onwards?

Available st Sheffield Local Studies Library, Surrey Street, Sheffield.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Do you think Lilian just needs unlocking  ;D

Have you seen the newspaper report 07 May 1948 about a James Warriner of Sheffield being imprisoned for theft.  Sorry Carol I found it when looking for a marriage

Yes Rosie I know all about that thanks.

Lilian doesn't seem to be with the family and if she is elsewhere she may well need unlocking as she didn't die till September 1991.

I wondered if she was the first entry for that family in 1939 that is blacked out.   Shame that newspaper article does not state whether he was single / married.

Available st Sheffield Local Studies Library, Surrey Street, Sheffield.

Looks like my next holiday should be one up north to Sheffield then  ;D

I've holidayed in many places near graves or record offices over the years, for family history purposes.

I'm not too bothered about Lilian as she isn't James's mum, that was Ethel nee Childs who died at age just 23 in 1929.Dad James then married Lilian Pearson and they had the last 2 boys.
