Hi James,
Oh a photo would be nice to see! I must admit I’ve not looked for any information for a while, but will continue soon!
Hope you’re keeping well amongst all this uncertainty!
Best wishes,
Shona

John Wallace, as far as we can see, by mention of date, names and position, John was Buried at Newington, Edinburgh in September 1949. Newington would lie between where Leith [where John was working] and the Place in the Borders were he killed  in a tree accident. Now, after a long search, you know where he is Moyra. There may be no Grave, but there is a big Cemetery.

Hi,
Well done on getting this far!
A couple of questions....how do you know he is buried here and why does he have no grave?
Oh, a third one......does his daughter now have this info?!

That’s nice to have found it out for the family.

Shona

This was a thank you some time after the funeral. [Scotsman 10 September 1949]. Newington says there is no stone. On the other hand, I have found stones which Mortonhall said  did not exist. I have found the house where Moyra's Father was born, lived and moved, and now his final resting place. She knows the name of the other sister [who attended /deseathed] and always wondered why she was not asked to attend. As the couple were separated with one in Leith and another in ,Denholm, Newington was an ideal meeting spot for a funeral. Maybe the Forestry Commission should raise one. Moyra knows about this.

Dear James,
I’m so pleased you’ve been successful in filling in some of the details for Moyra. It’s a lovely thing to have done and I’m sure this will have given her comfort.
Best wishes to you,
Shona

There are two Hermitage Places. To avoid confusion one was entered as Raeburn Place where John Wallace is listed in 1948, the year before he died. His wife and children are not mentioned as they live elsewhere.
