This appears to be John McGrath's death in 1896. Born Ireland, address is same street listed for Ellen in 1893, age 63 (born about 1833) & buried St Joseph  Cemetery.

Edit to add-
This is definitely the right John. He is listed as meat packer on the card. Looking back at the 1880 census, he is listed as a butcher.

that's him. He disappears from the City Directory after 1896
They might have renumbered the houses.

1896
  John, butcher, 1627 Dhonau
John Jr, brick layer, 1627 Dhonau
  Walter, blacksmith, 1631 Dhonau

but:

1897
  Walter, blacksmith, 1631 Dhonau
John, carpenter 824 Kenyon, janitor 302 Butler, paper hanger 1081 Mound, b.k.h. 1214 Broadway, painter 712 Barr

edit to add:
He was a butcher on the 1880 Census.

I agree. It's nice when the records are there.

You're welcome.
It's too bad they didn't live until 1908 when Ohio started using a full death certificate which asked for the parents' names and places of birth.

The earliest child I can find for them is Anastasia, born 29 Aug 1871 in Cincinnati, Ohio, according to her death record (9 October 1937, Bellevue, Kentucky), if that is any help. I forget if we ever figured out when Michael arrived.
