It was Redruth.

Bear in mind that birth registration wasn't compulsory in England until 1875 and many births went unregistered.

Redruth Registration District was created  1 July 1837 and abolished 1 April 1974 to become Camborne Redruth.

1851 census simply says he was born in England? Living in Jersey.

Peter Street, Jersey
Reference: Class: HO107, Piece: 2527, Folio: 206, Page: 33

Boase, John  Head  M  40  Shoe Maker  b England
Boase, Betsey  Wife  F  40  b England
Boase, William  Son  M  10  b England
Boase, Mary  Daughter  F  4  b England
Boase, John  Son  M  12  b England

Marriage:
17 May 1836 at Falmouth
John Boase, bachelor  to  Betsey Broadley, spinster

GRO Index search doesn't show any Boase births, with a MMN of Broadley, around 1839?

But it does show:

    BOASE, JOSEPH        BROADLEY
GRO Reference: 1842  D Quarter in FALMOUTH UNION  Volume 09  Page 83

    BOASE, MARY        BROADLEY
GRO Reference: 1847  D Quarter in SOUTHAMPTON  Volume 07  Page 212
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
