Mystery family member no one knows about.. help please
« on: Thursday 13 February 20 19:01 GMT (UK) »
hello everyone. Im wondering if anyone could help with James Fowler who was born in Aberdeen st Nicholas 1913-1976 Warwickshire... I have his birth certificate Mother Caroline butler/Grant and Farther David Fowler and i also his death certificate but after months and month of searching there is no more records of his life. I have also been on ancestry and all the sons and daughters of Caroline and David dont have him on there family tree. so i have emailed a few of the family members to see if they have any knowledge of him.
i can not find any census or any link at all of a connection with his family other then his birth certificate with his parents names.. very very odd.
i have also checked scotlandspeople  website

thank you
April Griffiths
xx

Can you give the precise date of birth from the birth certificate - you've not found him on the 1939 census?

And does the death certificate mention an occupation, and what was the address and the person who notified the death?

Was he a bachelor when he married Margaret Evans?
Did he have the fish business in Coventry?

Not quite sure which census you expect to find him on. He was born 1913 and the 1911 census is the most recent we have access to.
The 1939 'Register' (which was not a census) would only have him if he wasn't in the forces (given his age in 1939 that is likely) AND was living in England and Wales at the time. Scotland's 1939 census is not yet available.

There are 4 possible births of children to James and Margaret listed in Coventry. I'm not giving details as it's highly likely that most, if not all, will still be living, but you can find them on freeBMD.
Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)
Greenfield (Liverpool)
Holyland (Anywhere and everywhere, also Holiland Holliland Hollyland)
Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)
Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)

The other people who have family trees may all have copied each other and may only have knowledge up to 1901 or 1911 census, so will have missed his birth in 1913'

It is not at all unusual for people investigating other parts of the family to miss out on later children born after 1911, particularly in Scotland where births are not as obvious.
