Mary Jane Evans Stewart - Where is she in 1901?
« on: Saturday 15 February 20 03:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone.

Looking for my great-grandmother in the 1901 Census.

Here is a link to a previous thread about her;

Mary Jane Evans Stewart was born Oct 1886 at Newbigging, Montrose, Angus. Her parents were John Stewart and Mary Stott.

Mary J E had an illegitimate child named Charles McKenzie, 1903 at Inchock, Inverkeilor, Angus. She later went on to marry another man named Norman Campbell. They married in Glasgow and Mary J E is living in Glasgow in the 1911 Census. Her son Charles McKenzie was brought up his maternal grandparents John Stewart and Mary Stott. He never went to Glasgow with his mother.

I have the following siblings for Mary J E

Robert                b 1889 died 1895
John                   b 1891 Farnell
Jessie Ann           b 1894 Inverkeilor
Robina                b 1896 Inverkeilor
Jemima               b 1898 Inverkeilor
Francis                b 1900 Inverkeilor

I don't know if Mary J E was still local to Angus in 1901 or if she was in Glasgow or elsewhere. But unfortunately the name "Mary Stewart" would be one of the most common names in Scotland at the time.

This may be unsolvable due to the name but asking for help meantime.

Thank you.
