John and Sarah Burnett in Dublin Wills
« on: Saturday 15 February 20 12:57 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone does lookups for wills in Dublin please.  I am searching for a couple possible wills of John Burnett who died 22/5/1926 aged 87 address 4 Golden Vale, Kilmainham.  He was a baker but says on death cert he was retired quarter master sergeant, which is he was, he was marr.  Then 10 days later his wife Sarah but she is named as Sally Burnett on the death cert, died 1st June 1926, wid, same address died of bronchitis.  Present at John's death was Margaret Ralph.  Present at Sarah's (Sally) death was Nora ?Manning of same address.  So if anyone does lookups it would be great if they could find a possible will for either of them.

So this is a different question now about Margaret Ralph.  If this needs to be put on a different board then please advise.  After both John's and Sarah's death, it is believed that Margaret Ralph aged approx 17 at the time of above deaths, was taken in by some religious order and sent over to England, would anyone know of this religious order who would have done this and why?  There are a lot of questions about Margaret Ralph.  It is  believed and there is birth cert to prove this, that she was born in Belfast 5/1/1909, her parents were named as William Ralph, Occ Valet, res: India, and Elizabeth Ralph formerly Griffiths.  The res address given by the mother was 72 Carlisle St and the lady present at birth address was Holywood Co Down.  For some reason we cannot find any marriage whatsoever of William and Elizabeth Griffiths anywhere.  Then in 1911, Margaret is living with the elderly couple the Burnetts, he was 70 and she was 59, in Dublin at 4 Golden Vale Kilmainham.  She is named as boarder.  I am trying to find out who Margarets parents actually were and why she was now in Dublin with this elderly couple.  I  know that John and Sarah had no children of their own.  I checked to see if either of them had been married previously but they had been married for 40 years it says on the 1911, so ruled out also that Margaret could have been a grandchild.  Margaret married in England a couple years after going to England and had to apply for her birth documentation which also states the same as on her birth cert.    I have searched everywhere for William Ralph in the military in India or anywhere else and zero.  I cannot find William or Elizabeth Ralph anywhere on the 1911.  Can anyone throw any light on any of this information and above John and Sarah re. any known wills.
Thanks Suze

if Margaret Ralph was what was usually termed as a nurse child she may have been given to the Burnetts to foster they would have received a fee, you may find records in the workhouse admission and discharge book's.

Thanks Dathai, I'll give that a whirl then.  Just that if she was born in Belfast, how and why in Dublin in 1911.

It doesn't appear John or Sarah even had an administration after their deaths

There is a John Burnett in 1926 but he has a different address.
John and Sarah married when John was stationed on the Curragh

it may simply be the case that John and William were friends in the Military.

Hi

Googling 72 Carlisle Street brings up the Will of Francis George Morteshed, Accountant of 72 Carlisle Street (died Aug 1915) and mentions his wife Frances Elizabeth Morteshed:-
http://www.willcalendars.nationalarchives.ie/reels/cwa/005014919/005014919_00241.pdf

The 1911 census has what looks like the same couple (Francis George, an Auctioneer and Frances Elizabeth his wife) living in Glasnevin, Dublin with one son, but all born Nenagh, Co Tipperary:-http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Glasnevin/Ellsmere_Avenue__Off_Circular_Road_North/12970/

Who was living at 72 Carlisle Street, Belfast in 1909 and was there an earlier connection between that Belfast address and Dublin?
