Badroach
« on: Sunday 16 February 20 02:00 GMT (UK) »
Janet McPherson (about 1776) is said to be born in Badroach, Perthshire.  I can't find any reference to a town or village of that name.  Can anyone make a suggestion.

I'm thinking it might be Badenoch.  I'll try that.

If it was in Perthshire, it was not Badenoch, which is in Inverness-shire.

Where did you find the reference to Badroach?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

It came from an Ancestry hint (which is why I'm checking it out).  Anyway, she was married in Kilspindie and her children were all born there but I haven't found her there though there are some possibilities elsewhere in Perth.  If Badroach doesn't exist then in itself is a help.  Thanks.

I found the reference in the 1851 census.  She was born in Perth but I also can't decipher the town of birth.

Could be. It looks like Bodnoch or Badnoch.
