Anthony McFadden - Creeslough
« on: Sunday 16 February 20 11:39 GMT (UK) »
Ancestry DNA threw up a rogue cousin as it has a tendency to do.

This person doesn’t log into ancestry very often at all so I’ve had trouble getting information from them.

It’s a bit of a strange one as none of my Dad’s brothers as far as I am aware had a son with this name and they’re not from mother’s side as she’s had her DNA done too.

The only information I got from this cousin is that their grandparents were Anthony McFadden (I think born around 1911) from Creeslough and Elizabeth Law from Gortin.

Has anyone got an Anthony McFadden from Creeslough born around this date in their tree that might be able to help me out?

Many thanks.

Is it the McFaddens you think are the link to your family?

Closest I can see is an Anthony McFadden born November 1911 (months after 1911 census) in Dunfanaghy district-

Same site doesn't show marriage and I can't match up those names in Family Search's index. Could they married outside Ireland? or Elizabeth married previously?

Many thanks! The cousin is a McFadden that’s what’s baffling. Ancestry have him down as a 1st cousin and I open it up and it says 1st but may be 2nd but none of my Dad’s brothers were McFaddens, we’re all Howards, coming from the North West of England so I’m wondering if the marriage happened somewhere around there then.

DNA certainly isn't as straight-forward as those television advertisements!

Exactly how many centimorgans do you and this DNA match share?

That's not what I asked but it is useful to know. The question I asked JMoo was how many centimorgans do you share with the DNA match?

There was an Antony McFadden born Dunfanaghy Jan 1929, mother's name Murray. There is a death in 1990, Essex, of Anthony McFadden who was born Jan 1929.

Cannot find a 1988 death. There is a 1998 death with 1932 as his birth.
