Music Hall/Variety Performers

I am looking into a child entertainer from the 1930’s.
Her stage name was Dimples Smith and she was, at one time, based in Oxford.
Would I be better off posting this in the Occupations section or is The Common Room ok?
Basically wondering if there are any repositories for this sort of info.
Obviously Googling every possible selection of the words, Dimples, Swift, child, entertainer, variety, music hall, Oxford....and made up family story  brings up nothing.

Not coming up with anything for either The Stage or The Era.  How did you find her name?  Is she a connection of some kind to your family?

Yes Girl Guide. There is a photo of her in one of the family albums and apparently she is related!
But again, sometimes these things aren’t actually correct are they! I have no record of any marriages of any of my Oxford lot to anyone called Swift. It may be the whole name is a stage name...but I have started off by looking at females with the name Swift in the Oxford area c1930.
I was just given some more info from my mum that she was told they moved to Headingly, Yorkshire. So I will be checking that out too!

If you have the image in on your computer...goggle her name...then go to google images, on the right of the subject bar, you will see a camera icon, if you click on it, you can upload the photo from your computer and if there is one of her online, it will bring up a match.

Sorry...must have autocorrected and I didn’t notice...it is Swift! That will teach me not to reread it before I post!

Well Carol...that is brilliant. I didn’t find her, but what I did find was Shirley Temple and it made me think that old Dimples was probably one of millions of little girls that thought (or their mother’s thought) they could hit the big time!
I will be using that reverse image thingy a lot from now on!

Oh good...it is a very useful tool, especially if you have old scenic Family photos and you don't know where they were taken.
