Ann Potter, born in Chester circa 1806
« on: Wednesday 19 February 20 13:14 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the birth record of Ann Potter, according to several census records born in Chester circa 1806. I have looked for several name variations: Ann, Anne, Annie, Hannah and Anna and haven't been able to find a birth record for her in Chester.

She married Edward Parry in St Bridget's parish, Chester, in 1827. Edward Parry was a skinner and they had children Walter, John, Ann, Thomas, William, Emma and Henry all in Chester.

They later moved to Castleton, Lancashire in modern day Rochdale where they appear on the 1861 and 1871 census.

She died in 1873 in Castleton and I believe Edward moved back to Chester,  as there is a possible death in 1879, but am not sure whether this is my Edward Parry.

Can someone help me find Ann's birth record?

Thanks for any help in advance.

There's an  Edward Parry, skinner,  that might be your man.

I can't see anything on the page that you linked. I tried searching on this site with Edward Parry's name and could find anything. Would you be able to send me a direct link please?

Seems a good match to me. I've never used the site before but will certainly have a look at it.

By the way, I've now done a bit more digging into Ann's potential sister, Jane. Jane and William Woodward were living in Chester in 1841, and Jane's place of birth is listed as Liverpool, circa 1808. Had a look for her birth and found baptism record in 1809 for her, parents John Potter, mariner, and Frances Fisher, of Pall Mall in Liverpool.

Looked for more potential children of John and Frances, I.E. siblings of Jane. Found the following:

Frances 1813, Liverpool
Charlotte 1819, Chester
Eliza 1819, Chester

No sign of Ann's baptism as of yet, in Liverpool or Chester.

May be that Ann is Jane's cousin, not sister...
