1841 Rook,  (Handbridge  ) Chester . all born in County , transcribed as Patter
Frances Patter  (f) 55  Y first name has been altered i/e
John Patter 18 waterman Y
Louisa Patter 15 Y

Search occupier surname Potter, on page 2 of results is this.

Chester St Mary plot 275 occupiers . Francis Potter  and others.  Plot name, houses yard and ropewalk.  Map  survey dated 1842.

If you go to the map Rocks, and  Greenway Street   are clearly marked. 
So could be a male Francis Potter, but I`m not finding this person in 1841.

Thanks Wilcoxon, I've been looking for "Rock" or Rook for a while now and glad you've found it.

Looks like it was pretty much exactly on the spot of the modern Handbridge Co-Op. Knowing Chester it was probably a section of sandstone cliff face or similar.

If you visit Chester,  this side of the river is worth walking through.

I actually don't live far from Handbridge but haven't been for a while. Will go down and refresh my memory over the weekend!
