Yes, it seems to all fit.

When and where did Margaret die?

Okay, so Margaret died 14.4.1899 at Moama in NSW (across the river from Echuca, Victoria). I don't have any other information.

So, the Peter buried at Rookwood, may just be the son born UK:

CALLANDER Peter Funeral notice 16 Feb 1922 Funeral late of Morgan, SA, formerly of Echuca, Vic Sydney Morning Herald 15 Feb 1922

Am I correct in understanding that this isn’t your tree, but a connection to via the brother of the JOHN who Margaret NIMMO.

We don’t have the death of John, the seaman, who was married to Margret NIMMO, do we?

Yes, well then maybe Peter made his way to Sydney, as did our Great Grandfather Alexander Callander b. 1829, who came to Australia with his Brother Andrew Callander for the Gold Rush.

Yes, you are right, this isn't our family tree, but a connection via the brother of John Callander b. 1779 (Father of John Callander who married Margaret Nimmo)       I needed to confirm that these Callanders were definitely connected to our Alexander Callander who married Margaret Cowan.

So John Callander b. 1816 and our Great Grandfather b. 1829 were first cousins, they all made their way to Australia for the Gold Rush.

I am not sure about John Callander the Seaman, believe he was a Blacksmith.

The 1851 census, reply #7, says Margaret’s hubby is a seaman at sea at time of census.

Hi Jamjar,
Oops, I didn't see that, as I couldn't get on to the site.   That is interesting.
