Well I am shocked - A LOT of Dulston family in our area 1800-1840
Samuel and Alice Dunston having quite a few children - in Cockspur Street and Samuel is a CUSTOMS OFFICER - possibly down Garston Docks
an example
Baptism: 22 Feb 1824 St Peter, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Jane Dulston - [Child] of Samuel Dulston & Alice
    Abode: Cockspur Street
    Occupation: Custom House Officer

so do you think Joseph the Boatbuilder may have come to Liverpool ??  do you have him in ANY census records to give us a start - blind research without more info  :)
