George sails for England
« on: Saturday 22 February 20 19:27 GMT (UK) »
I clipped the attached snippet from The Streator Free Press, 9 April 1903.  Can someone please help; did George actually depart for a visit to England, if so name of ship and any other details would be appreciated.

Thanks, Roy

I can't see any evidence that he visited the UK in 1903.
There are numerous newspaper ads in the second half of the year (from July onwards) to the effect that he had decided to cancel his London engagements and that his song "In the good old summertime" could be sung anywhere in the UK  without fee or licence (except in Leeds and Bristol where other held exclusive rights). "Send six penny stamps for professional copy and band parts"

Hi ShaunJ
As you mentioned I had found plenty on him in 1903 elsewhere in the States and while I am generally sceptical about press reports felt it was worth checking out as he still had family back in Wales.

Thanks for your reply
