i think  it must be the James Alphonsus Codd from the date but i still cant find his parents how do i find them

There is a brief tree - yours perhaps- which has his father as James.
Do you have a marriage certificate with father’s name?
If you did, you might be able to find a marriage for the parents and in the censuses - 1901 and 1911 when the parents were young.
