Interestingly - On a  London, England, School Admissions and Discharges, 1840-1911 for Selina Maud Pember on 4 July 1904 it gives a partial date of birth as 31 March.  ???

The SSDI shows - Helen Beck - Birth Date 31 Mar 1899 - 7 January 1988  ??? (same person  ???)
Last Residence:   85351, Sun City, Maricopa, Arizona;
Issued New York before 1951.

U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007   Helen Beck - Birth Date 31 Mar 1899 - Death Date 7 Jan 1988
Claim Date 1 Jul 1966

Sandra

That is interesting because you know on ancestry when they come up with matches, it keeps coming up with a Helen Beck as a match for Selina Maud Pember

Thanks everyone, I have a feeling that the Laurent link is  a red herring. I cant seem to find a marriage between my Doris Cocroft and a Mr Laurent.

Unless she changed her name to Helen Beck?

This is worth investigating further - would not be unusual for someone to change there name - to many coincidences not to...........

Not all marriages are online.  I don't think Arizona has many, if any, for the time frame you might be looking at.

Ah I have just created an account on family search, I see that some of the records have images now, I literally hadnt used it for about 20 years when it was just transcriptions

So it might be, that Frederick and Selina divorced and she went and changed her name to Helen. she then married Donald Beck.

Meanwhile Doris stayed living with her father but then later married a Don Laurent, but used Beck as her maiden name instead of Cocroft?

They had one son Don Laurent, who has since died but leaves 2 living children.

How would I access the marriages to check this out, do american marriage records have the father's names on them or the mothers names of the bride and grooms?

Doris stayed with her father (1940 census) but then marries William Laurent as per reply 25 and the reminder  reply 39.  They had one son Don Laurent who passed away in 2017

Don married in Imperial, California when he was 20 years old -17 February 1967 - presumably the couple divorced. (reply 24)

The lady who owns the ancestry tree "C"was a daughter born in 1968. The brother "D" could be a twin - he was born 1968

Doris Cocroft/Beck/Laurent passed away in 2018
