Do you know if he married?

Is he just shown as Owen on the 1891/1901/1911 censuses?

Hi Ciderdrinker,

All the information I have on him is on an Ancestry tree inc sisters, parents, grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents, nephews etc etc. Owen Hughes Jones's sister Mary is my paternal Grandmother.

I suspect that Owen Hughes Jones went to OZ as a young man according to local oral sources.

If you can access the tree which in the name of my cousin Beryl Wyn Hughes (I am down as an Editor) then it would be much easier for you to see the whole picture.

If you cannot access the above tree, let me know and I will be more than happy to send you all the details that I have of his family.

Ciderdrinker is trying to help you but does not have a connection to you.  In your opening post you give very little info and just ask for "any information"

Please read my reply which asked you to be more precise as to EXACTLY what type of info you want etc etc.

If there is an extensive tree on Ancestry - you presumably have everything on him available to the tree owner.

So are you asking us to try and verify the oral info that he went to Australia?   Have you checked outgoing passenger  records on Ancestry?

The problem is that all censuses just show him as Owen so if he dropped the middle name of Hughes it makes the chances of finding the right Owen Jones more difficult

OK, I hear what you say, fair comment.

This is what I have on Owen Hughes Jones 1888.

His parents were John Jones 1859 poss born Bodedern Anglesey and Elizabeth Hughes b 1857 Llechylched, Anglesey

His siblings were:-

Jane b 1881 Llechylched
John b 1877 Llechylched
Catherine b 1879 Llechylched
Mary b 1883 Llechylched  -  my grandmother
Ellen b 1885 Llechylched
Margaret b 1891 Bodedern, Anglesey
Anne b 1894 Bodedern

I have marriages for 2 of the siblings:-

Jane 1881 married a Pierce Morgan
Mary 1883 married a Richard Rowlands

There is no trace of a marriage or death for Owen Hughes Jones on Anglesey.

I am only editor on someone else's tree and am not a member of Ancestry.

I'm trying to discover if OHJ really went to OZ as local oral history suggests or if he went elswhere.

As Carole says I'm not related.
The 1901 census I found obviously wasn't the right one.
The last census I can find for the family all together is 1901 Llanfihangel yn nhowyn

Margaret is working as a servant in 1911 but I'm struggling to see the rest.

Owen was baptised 30.12 1888 at LLechylched
John 17.12.1877
Catherine 15.6.1879
Mary 23.9.1883 Llechylched
Ellen 4.1.1886 LLechylched possible marriage to Richard Parry
Maggie 6.1.1892 Bodedern
Anne 10.7.1894 at Bodedern I'm guessing from the 1939 index she married a Evan W Turner at Holyhead in Sep qtr 1915.

As you say Owen seems to disappear.
I can't see a passenger list for him or an entry on the 1911 census which I can see is definitely him.
There is a Death in Melbourne  for an Owen Jones born 1889 dying 1968 which could be him but there are a lot of Owen Jones.

I'm sorry but I really can't see him .There are just too many Owen Jones
