The groom signed and the bride made a crosss.
Both of this parish.

Her previous marriage in the parish
7.10.1804
John Appleford labourer and Elizabeth Wearill
both made a cross and were of this parish
wit Henry Wren and ? dry Ball.

Sons John bapt 6.11.1813 and ,Henry 9.6.1816.
John White Appleford buried 30.7.1820 age 43. (his father John was a brandy dealer who left a PCC Will 1804 and mother Jane White )

The census gives Elizabeth born 1783 Aldbourn Wilts I can't find her.
there is an Elizabeth Wavell 27.7.1783 at Cirencester d of John and Abigail.

Samuel was getting on a bit .He was buried 13.12.1848
Bapt 12.12.1765 s of John and Mary Fowler

The Emily Taylor above (born c 1807 ) was nee Fowler -married Thomas Taylor 18.6.1832
wit Anne Fowler and Elizabeth Fowler
Her son Thomas is Elizabeth's grandson in 1851.
So Samuel must have been married before even though it doesn't say on his marriage record.
The John Fowler age 13 is Emily's son bapt  21.10.1827 as John Lawrence Fowler.

This has been confusing me for ages. As you have found out Samuel FOWLER was married twice first to Mary then Elizabeth ! Appleford ne Wearill.

In some of the census Elizabeth's age keeps jumping up even though Samuel's age remained the same and they had so many children some duplicated some missing altogether .

Elizabeth Wearill was born in Alderbourne but I've noticed her surname depending on what document your looking at can be spelt many different ways Wharell, Wherril, Wherrell, Werril, Worral and Wearill and that's just in Alderbourne !

You possibly have already seen, there is an entry in Pigot's 1844 for Samuel FOWLER:

"RAMSBURY, ALDBOURN AND NEIGHBOURS ...
CARRIERS
To MARLBOROUGH, Samuel Fowler and Silvester Butler, every Saturday; and to NEWBURY, every Tuesday and Thursday."

(Silvester BUTLER ran the Bleeding Horse Inn in Ramsbury.)
