Pre census dead end - any ideas - John Gibson
« on: Thursday 05 March 20 18:05 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am looking to try to identify another generation back, but have come stuck. I have not been able too find clues of siblings or parents names to help - just a place of birth from the census. Can you think of how I might find anything further back for John Gibson 1781?? researching the children etc there are no mention of grandparents at all to help with identification.

John Gibson (Guess Birth year c 1781) - born Boughton Nottingham  - from 1851 and 1861 census's.
Married Hannah Moody 1786 - 1856

John and Hannah's children identified
William 1806  (connection 1851 census - living with Parents and sister Jane)
John 1815 (my direct line) Kneesall Baptism gives parents names John and Hannah as does Marriage record give father John Ag Labourer (and was married by 1851 so would not expect to see him on the same census as Parents)
Frances 1817 Kneesall Baptism gives parents names John and Hannah
Jane 1820 (connection 1851 census - living with Parents and brother William)

I have not been able to find any baptism record for John Gibson snr (1781) in that area  - but did find 4 other baptisms in Boughton and the parents are Thomas Gibson and mary Gibson.

Jane 1780
Mary 1786
Thomas 1784
James 1790

Do you think this could be John's family - any suggestions on research I can do to help confirm this?

many thanks for your time

Yes- wow what good memory - back in 2016

I was hoping there might be some new sources of material people are aware of that may help me further with the proof as I drew a blank on finding evidence for John being part of the Thomas and Mary Family.

1841 census shows them living in Kneesal - Hannah was a nurse living in a different address.
