Heat/Heaths in Withyham area
« on: Friday 06 March 20 00:17 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping someone here can help me solve a puzzle surrounding my Heat/Heath ancestors in the Withyham area of Sussex.

My ancestor Joseph Turner married Sarah Heath/Heeth [also spelt Heat] in Hartfield in 1796. There are currently two candidates for Sarah's christening though.

There is a Sarah christened in Withyham in 1773 daughter of Henry and Ann, and then there is also a Sarah christened in Withyham in 1776 daughter of Thomas and Ann.

I suspect that Thomas and Henry were brothers but I'm not certain yet as I haven't found a christening for Thomas yet. He married Ann Sweetman in Withyham in 1768 so I guess he was born in the 1730s or 1740s.

Is anyone able to check if either of the above two Sarahs died young or if there is a christening for Thomas in the area in the 1730s or 40s?

If anyone can help or has any ideas it would be a great help.

Many Thanks
Matt

Thanks Claire that clarifies which Sarah is mine. I did suspect mine was the daughter of Henry but when I found a reference to this Sarah in my notes I wasn't sure.

Puzzle 1 solved.
