Shipping Manifests Sought - RASMUS MADSEN to Australia
« on: Saturday 14 March 20 21:30 GMT (UK) »
I am researching Rasmus Madson (Madsen) and Maren Lindholm who married in the United States and migrated to Australia, finally settling in Taabinga Kingaroy.
Both were born in Denmark but married in the United States before migrating to Australia.
Three children, Laura, Jeff and Mary Christina were born in America.  The other children were born in Queensland.
I can find no record of their migration either on the Australian end or the United States manifests, in or around the year 1892-4.
Once the family settled in Queensland, I have plenty of data re births, deaths and marriages, and have obits from newspapers etc.
I cannot, however, find any record of ships' manifests bringing them to Australia.
Any direction will be greatly appreciated.
Ireland, Scotland, England, United States, Germany, Australia.

The children of Rasmus Madson (Madsen) and Maren Lindholm would marry in Australia, and the marriage certificates will record birthplace.   You need to see a marriage certificate for the children born outside Australia.

Where and when did they marry in USA?

Where do you see them in US.......census record?

Electoral Roll 1903  Taabinga Wide Bay    Queensland     (Ancestry)
MADSON   Charles
MADSON   Caroline
MADSON   Rasmus
MADSON   Maren

They would need to be British to be voting.

Using N(ational) A(rchives) of A(ustralia) website I do not see a naturalisation file for Rasmus.

Likely you have tried all the variations on the spelling of the surname?

It is highly unlikely that you will find any indexed shipping records between the USA and Queensland.  You would have to narrow the date down and then search in person at Queensland Archives to see if any records have been retained.

The Archives' guide to immigration records is here:

United States of America board, yesterday -
"....Three children, Laura, Jeff and Mary Christina were born in the United States.  I can find absolutely no record of their birth anywhere..."

If you have found no record of the births, how have you identified their birthplace to be United States?

When considering that the MADSONs are voting, this newspaper article might be useful -
