A problem is that there is another John CROSTHWAITE birth reg at Kendal Jun qtr 1844 with no mmn. I can only see the one John in the various censuses, but no death for that name that would fit. 

Have found a baptism of John CROSTHWAITE at Windermere 9 June 1844. Mother is Agnes CROSTHWAITE. Since he is  a nephew of Thomas, presumably Agnes and Thomas are siblings.

Pretty sure John marries Elizabeth MITCHELL in 1867 at Kendal. They can be found quite easily in the censuses, and name their first daughter Agnes.

The only Agnes CROSTHWAITE around Kendal I can see in the 1841 is at Undermilbeck:

So born c 1816-1821. There is a baptism for Agnes CROSTHWAITE at Windermere 11 Jan 1818 to parents John and Alice. Which unfortunately doesn't quite fit with the baptism of Thomas to John and Mary.

Thomas and Elleanors  children are Thomas Elleray born 1835,Mary 1838 Elizabeth 1839,Anthony Wilson 1841,John 1843 who married Mary Agnes Thompson (and is the line I am following) and William 1846. There is a John at Birthwaite in 1811 and this is where Thomas &Elleanor we’re in 1851
and I did wonder if this was Thomas’s Father (but feel his father should be a Thomas when looking how they have named their children )so maybe he’s a brother to Thomas. Will look more closely at the nephew and see if that helps.
