Samuel Connis married a Mary Murphy, (Widow of William?) 1916, Blytheswood.
Well spotted. She was Mary Murphy other surname Finlay according to the index on SP.

"Old Eagle Eyes" me.

A few possibilities for James' marriage. Jane Taylor, 1920, Barrhead. Bridget Barrett or English, 1923, Paisley. Margaret Cleary, 1925, Neilston. Margaret Hughes, 1926, Neilston.

Possible death of James, 1959, Newton Mearns.

All within a short distance of Barrhead.

No more credits left!!

James died 6 Nov 1959, he was a retired postman married to Isabella Jack. He died in Mearnskirk Hospital, Newton Mearns, usual address 133 Cleeves Road, Glasgow. The death was registered by his sister Minnie and the cause was chronic Bronchitis and emphhycema, congestive cardiac failure.

He married Isabella in 1932 and the marriage was registered in Camlachie.

Thank you all so much, what a great help you have been. This is the information I just couldn't find.
My Grandparents were Samuel Connis and Mary/Finlay/Murphy. She was the widow of William Murphy.
William, James and Minnie were my Mum's half brothers & sister. She was brought up as an only child as the others were older.  She lost touch with all of them in 1945. Ive been able to trace Minnie but could never find out what happened to James or William. Thank you for using your SP credits, its very kind of you. I will try and trace him in Glasgow Evening Times too. weeblether :-*

I wonder if you can give me any information on William Robinson Murphy also.
Is that William Murphy, father of James, or William Murphy, brother of James, or William Murphy, son of James?

There are three births of William Robinson Murphy on SP, in 1896, 1928 and 1966.

Two marriages, in 1996 and 2009, which could be two marriages of the one born in 1966.

One death in 1971 aged 74, which will be the one born in 1896.

It was quite common for people to forget to give their middle names when they got married (or to add a middle name not on their birth certificate) so you may be looking for a marriage and death of a plain William Murphy. Or he may not have stayed in Scotland.
