I've done a little bit of digging and I agree it looks likely Robert could be the son of Knight and Mary. I have found Knight's DC on SP and it looks like the informant is a 'Robert Harrower' - Can anyone decipher this?

The 1866 city plan of Aberdeen shows Lobban's Court off Castle Street, between the Mercat Cross and the barracks (which aren't there anymore). Probably behind the buildings where the Salvation Army are today maybe?

From the Post Office Directory for 1842-3, it shows I think as:

Lobban's court, 29, Castle street

Knight's parents, which Ruth has identified and you have confirmed with Knight's death reg.

Their first or early born child William was born in Edinburgh in 1791. There is a gravestone ref for Margaret Lyon's father William in Edinburgh. See www.gravestonephotos.com/public/breadcrumbtrail.php?grave=60807

You can request a free copy of the image of the gravestone from the site.
