my family ancestry
« on: Saturday 21 March 20 21:34 GMT (UK) »
I believe I have finally found the link of my family ancestry from the US to England.  I have located who I think is my GGGrandfather, John Sambroke (or Sambrook) de Rockstro, b. November 5, 1810, but I would need to verify his emigration to America, possibly Canada and then on to New York before 1874 when my Great Grandfather was born.  Can anyone help, please.
my last name at birth is de Roxtro, so similar.  John Sambroke simply MUST be the link.

Maria Uleyate

One of the witnesses is Fanny Uleyate

Not sure that is the one you want.  Ages are all over the place on census but I think this one died in 1874 so didn't emigrate.

Perhaps identify the one in US and check those details to see if you can work back,

Yes, these are the ones I want:  John married to Maria Uleyate.  His father was Samual Sambrook Rackstraw.  So many different spellings!  de Rocstro is VERY possible.  Even my own family members here in the US use different spellings.John Sambroke de Rockstro was an artist and member of the Royal Academy.

I would love to see the 1841 UK census records.

I am currently searching for his emigration records from the UK to Canada (or the US), ultimately into the US possibly through St. Albans, VT.
Thank you all so much for your responses.

They lived on Brook Green Hammersmith in 1841.

It gives his profession as ???? Painting, I cannot make out what type of painting he did.

The census returns show other residents nearby as Carpenter, Bookseller, Publican, Solicitor and quite a few of independent means hence not a breadline street.

1851 and John and Maria are in Newington at 2 Parsonage Row where his is listed as an Artist.

I think it is Painting Professor
on the marriage it says Artist and Student of the Royal Academy

Can I ask the details of the 1874 birth please?
