Brown Bin Collections suspended, what to do with garden waste ?
« on: Tuesday 24 March 20 15:40 GMT (UK) »
We have just been informed that the council has suspended our brown bin collection, which is for waste food and garden waste. We have a huge hedge that need regular cutting soon but what to do with the waste if we have no garden ???? The local refuse is also closed, anyone have any ideas ??

Are your local tips still opening?  If so - is it feasible to put it in the car and take it?

If they are closed - the hedge cutting may have to wait

We have a separate grey bin for food waste as Fylde council stopped it going in with garden waste.

Leeds City Council have announced that litter bins will not be emptied so do not use them, that means the streets will be full of the tissues we are supposed to use and bin. We could of course fill our pockets with our used ones whilst out for our exercise but that is not exactly a good option especially if you are also shopping for essentials.

What is behind said hedge?  Like a neighbours garden or open countryside?  Not suggesting you dump it anywhere you shouldn't of course.

We bought a shredder with a neighbour and all our woody cuttings were shredded and then put round the back and side of our garage as a weed suppressor.

Compost it! Even half-filling bin bags & stacking them till composting complete!

Pass through a shredder and use as a mulch or add to your main compost would have been my suggestion. Seems we are all in the same boat.
