Ellen of Carden -- Challinor Family
« on: Wednesday 25 March 20 03:40 GMT (UK) »
Seeking information on Ellen of Carden, who married my ancestor Thomas Challinor (b.1804). They lived near Chester in Cheshire. They had one child, Mary, born in 1828. I don't have a surname for Ellen (unless it's Carden, but straightforward searches don't reveal anything). There's one possibility, Ellen Carden, in a Greenwood family tree, but she married someone else. Any help would be appreciated.

For reference is this the family in 1851  living in Bruen Stapleford??

Thomas Challinor 48  Ag Lab Bruen Stapleford
Ellen Challinor    50 Carden, Cheshire
Thomas Challinor 11  Bruen Stapleford

And in 1841 living in Tarvin with daughter Mary??

Thomas Challenor   35
Ellen   Challenor   35
Mary   Challenor   13
Betsy Challenor   9
Sarah Challenor   6
Thomas Challenor 2

Added - If this is the right family there are bapts of the Mary and her sisters in Tarvin on FindMyPast that list their mother as Ann? There is also a burial of an Ann Challoner age 29 in Tarvin on 12 March 1837.  Could Ellen be a second wife/partner??

There is a marriage at Chester on 24 Dec 1838 of a Thomas Challonor age 38 widower  father John - Labourer - to Ellen Whynn age 34 Spinster  father Joseph - Labourer - that might be worth looking at if this is the right family :-\

Thomas Challinor/Challenor, 2 in 1841, 11 in 1851, should have birth registered and so show mmn.

Neither could I.

Also Thomas could have been born to Ellen before her marriage, though still cannot see a birth.
