Mary would have been a minor when she married?
I.E. Under the age of 21.

Possibly a shotgun wedding? ;D ;D

Well Penistone makes more sense to me

"DENBY DALE, scattered houses, in the township of Denby, and parish of Penistone, the wapentake of Staincross and the honour of Pontefract; 4½ miles NW. of Penistone. Population, 1412."

No information of Kitchen Royd, except it was there!

Kitchenroyd is a hamlet in the Dearne Valley about 7.5 miles south east of Huddersfield and 9 miles by road.

The hamlet is on the A636 Wakefield Road mid-way between Denby Dale and Scissett, each about one mile away.

Kitchenroyd is part of the civil parish run by Denby Dale Parish Council within the metropolitan district of Kirklees.
