On the marriage cert of 1856 Richard b. c. 1835 stated the name of his father was Richard. Jemima's father was John Hayward. How can I connect 1835 Richard to the correct father? I thought it could be Richard and Emma but is there any proof that these are the correct Parents? thanks in advance

Have you found him with parents on either the 1841 or 1851 censuses?

What was his fathers occupation on the marriage cert as that can sometimes help to narrow it down if there’s more than one possibility

Were either of the witnesses surname Pritchard

You need to list all the information on this certificate please......information about bride and groom.....addresses....ages.....occupations.....witnesses.....Church.

Of the people named, who signs the register....who makes their mark

Richard Pritchard m. Jemima Pritchard widow 1856. She was married to James Pritchard 1853 maybe his older brother. In 1861 and 71 Richard says he is a miner first at Wombridge then Oakengates. Both made their mark on the marriage cert. Her father was John and mother Mary. Witnesses are Thomas Nicklefs and Elizabeth Dabbs who made her mark. Their children were John James and Wm. It just says they are of age. His father was Richard hers was John both colliers as was Richard the son. Richard and Jemima live at Red Lake parish of Wellington. There are 2 Richard Pritchards in 1841, only one has a brother James and father Richard. In 1851 only one Richard has a father Richard and brother James all are miners.

All my Pritchard's are in the same places as yours at a similar time.  It's very tricky as many names are generationally repeated.  Many online tree's have them all mixed up unfortunately...

I can't see the names you are looking for in my research but must be related somehow.

Regards, Bitzar.

William 1859 son of Richard and Jemima is a direct ancestor of my husband. Both Richard and William were miners. I believe there is coal mining in Dawley and Red Lake Shropshire but also in Cannock Staffordshire. That is why they may have moved. I don't understand Bilston either.
