The thing I find most alarming is covid-19 can be transmitted to animals such as ferrets, dogs and cats, both domestic and big cats such as lions & tigers.

I worry that people are going to use this as an excuse to exterminate such animals to "protect" humans.

Thanks for sharing those links, Guy. Like you, I hope people don't use that as an excuse to exterminate any of the implicated animals because the evidence is shaky at best, and there's no evidence that animals can pass the virus onwards to humans.

Transmission is from human to human. People shouldn't be scared into thinking it is being spread by their pets. Or tigers.

Yes, I heard that theory too the other week.   Poor little things, from a TV series it can be seen that they're put into socks and illegally enter other countries.  When the Australians discover a batch they usually humanely dispatch the ones who have survived the horrendous journey.
