William Granger/Mary Ann Bateman marriage - Nottinghamshire 1838

Hi.
I have a marriage between William Granger and Mary Ann Bateman  4th Sept 1838. Selston Nottinghamshire. They would have been born about 1817/19. I'm trying to find their parents as I have Batemans in my family and have been trying to find Elizabeth Granger 1780? for quite some time. She married William Tuckwood 1803. I wondered if there could be a connection. The Batemans I have came from Granby and surrounding areas in Nottinghamshire.

If you have their marriage cert - what were their fathers names/occupations?

Have you looked for them in 1851 to confirm birthyears and birthplaces?  The 1851 shows them both b Codnor Derbyshire and a name change to Grainger has been notified

Thanks for your reply.
Cert is not available as there are no index numbers to use. I did find the 1851 census info but didn't equate it to my other Batemans being Codnor Derbyshire. I thought someone might be able to find their baptisms as I have drawn a blank.
I'll concentrate on Codnor and see where it takes me.

I don't use FindMyPast so don't know whether they have family trees on the site

Ancestry have a number of trees which include this couple.  Suggests he was illegit - mother Sarah.  Surname is spelt Grainger

Also a suggestion he fathered 2 other children in another relationship but think it's a typo.  Says "he married Mary Ann Bateman and had 2 children"  Then goes on to say "he then married Mary Ann Bateman and they had 5 children together"   

Have a look at the 1851 entry - widowed mother in law Sarah Ann Bateman aged 62 living with them

Thank you, Carole. Findmypast doesn't have trees. I used to be on Ancestry but decided to have a change. Will be going back as I feel it is better.
