From there you can choose Births or whatever, also can choose Decades and can study them at your leisure, return whenever if you make new discoveries etc without getting stuck etc..

For the one you were asking about... because he wasn't Registered by family member you would need Obit indeed.

Thank you very much for your help Hallmark. I have tended to sidestep Irish records, putting them into the "too hard" basket. 

Hubby will be pleased to see the death registration for his great-grandmother.

I can't find a death notice for James in 1936 in the newspapers.

Forgot to say... Birth Certs show mother's Maiden name, check them to ensure siblings!
