Sandiway, Altrincham
« on: Thursday 02 April 20 11:42 BST (UK) »
Can anyone give me the locations of a couple of addresses shown on the 1841/1851 Censuses please.

They are Sandiway, Altrincham and Timperley Lane, Timperley.

I assume Sandiway is roughly where Sandiway Rd/Sandiway Place is today.

Thanks, Eric.

Also, the Larkhill Centre in Timperley shows it's address as:

Thorley Lane, Timperley Lane, Timperley WA15 7AZ
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

I did wonder if it had become Park Road, but it was always Wash Lane on the maps I found.

Thanks.

Eric,

If you look at the beginning of the census book. you will find the enumerators 'walk', this will give you a point to be able to locate the addresses

Extract from info about Census return

At the front of each enumeration district is a page describing the area included and there are spaces on each form for details of the district, village, parish (civil and ecclesiastical) etc to be included. The ecclesiastical parish name may be a guide when looking for baptisms in the family

Hi elzabels.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did know roughly where it was located from other Census entries. I was hoping someone may have been able to be a bit more specific.

Unfortunately, the Enumerator's 'Walk' covered too large an area.

Thanks anyway, Eric.
