National Theatre streaming plays during lockdown
« on: Friday 03 April 20 08:48 BST (UK) »
If anyone who is missing going out to the theatre and hasn't caught up with this yet, the National Theatre is streaming live recordings of plays.

Laat night was the fabulous comedy - "One man, two guvnors". We haven't laughed so much since I can't remember when, so much that it hurt.  It is still available for seven days.

Future offerings include Jane Eyre and Twelfth Night.

I second that Mike, it was great.
I saw a live screening of it last year, it was just as funny second time round.
We Made popcorn and all watched it together which was fun.

Me too. We haven't laughed that much in ages. James Corden was excellent.

I watched it too. A comedy in the classic farce tradition. I didn't care for some of the themes and language as for me I thought them unnecessary , but I stuck with it as underneath it was very funny.
The main thing that struck me was how much they earned their wages doing that each night. For me especially James Corden, who isn't usually one of my favourites. However I read somewhere else that they had seen his understudy play the role and thought they were better than Mr Corden.

We really enjoyed it too. We started watching Thursday evening quite late, so finished it yesterday afternoon. It was such good fun.

My daughter told me about this and suggested that I watched it so that we actually had something to talk about when we Skype each other. I moved the computer so that I could watch from my armchair and didn't stop laughing.

It's  two and a half hours long, so get comfortable, and have your interval glass of wine at hand.

Enjoy.
