Family history in Pakistan
« on: Saturday 04 April 20 15:58 BST (UK) »
Hi there,
I am trying to research for a friend who's family is from Lahore, Pakistan.
Have looked on family search but nothing of relevance.
Where is the best website to go for Pakistan family history?
Thank you very much
Vicky

Try
https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Pakistan_Online_Genealogy_Records

I have seen records from the Indian continent which includes India, the now Pakistan and  the old Ceylon. Most of the records are relevant to settlers, government employees and military. There are some church records but most of them are Church of England.

In the three countries Ceylon is probably the best for records for all races.

Let us now discuss Britain. It easier to trace back the wealthy people, the Royalty and Landed Gentry. Money (taxes) is the incentive of the government to keep records of them.
You die you pay up to the Government. The rich marry in the very old days a record is kept. Poor people would have no record.

Grave markers are another source of genealogy. Reserved for those who could afford them or the military.
