Struwwelpeter? Home Haircuts
« on: Monday 06 April 20 10:46 BST (UK) »
These are worrying times for those interested in personal grooming. I have noticed an increase in shaved heads among men, but what are those of us with longer tresses to do without our regular trim, or even wash and blow dry?  Shall we all look like Struwwelpeter? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Struwwelpeter  I am watching TV presenters closely for signs of home barbering.

I had a couple of goes at OHs locks. They're improved, but still need a bit more trimming.

(disclaimer - when we had less money, I used to cut everyones hair . . OH, 4 kids and my own (tricky, and impossible with aging bones etc)

Pony tail or French pleat, anyone?  I'm talking to female chatters, here.  No man buns or bun tails, if you can possibly avoid it, men.  It's really not a good look. ::)

I trimmed my fairly short hair last week, keeping to the general shape of it, using my embroidery scissors - Sewing Devils - and managed OK.  Just kept combing sections, holding the section and snipping into the overhang.  Couldn't manage much round the back.  Only took off the ends, carefully.  Once I'd washed it and used the tongs to curl under the layered ends, it felt and looked OK.  I usually visit the hairdresser every 4 weeks and think I will repeat my home trim every 2 weeks, just taking a little off, rather than a bigger chunk less often.

OH was due a haircut at the start of lockdown (locks-down ;)) so is well overdue but strangely, he doesn't trust me with sharp scissors near his ears.......

My old barber used to say that under every pony's tail is a horses-arse! No doubt the loss of trade coloured his view!  ;D

OH would let me trim his already slightly over-long locks, - but I simply dare not. I know I'd make a mess of it. I've offered to plait it for him if the lockdown goes on for months...and months.
Mine will simply regress to hairpins by the hundred, as it used to do ( thank goodness I never threw them all away).

Love it Skoosh!  ;D ;D

My hair is long and naturally straight so I don't really need to do anything other than trim my fringe, which I did a few days ago.  :)

Now I like Man buns, the two gardener brothers,on TV,one has one.
And pony tails for men.
Think of a Dick Turpin ,black bow at the base of the pony tail.
I am gradually getting used to the shaved up one side thick on top look .

Had mine cut very short ,so I look ,as used to be said in days of yore,  as if I have just been let out of an institution.
