George BENTLEY
« on: Monday 06 April 20 21:01 BST (UK) »
Hi all

My 4x great grandfather George BENTLEY was born in 1819 in Nantwich. He married Mary Brown who also was born in 1819 in Nantwich. I cant find a baptism for either nor a marriage! Can anybody please help me with this.

Many thanks

Ryan  :)

If you haven't found a marriage how do you know "He married Mary Brown" - where has that information come from?

Which census first has George and Mary living together - was John their oldest child?

First census is 1851. No, John was not their first child.

So they were both 25 when the eldest was born.  I suppose he could have already been married so couldn't marry Mary but certainly can't find a marriage to a Mary Brown.

Finding him in 1841 might help to see who he was living with?  Finding the right Mary Brown in 1841 will be more difficult.

Yes, BROWN is far more common than BENTLEY. Will take a look for 1841

Is this your family?

GRO births
BENTLEY, John    mms    BROWN
1846  MarQ    Nantwich  Vol 19  Page 176

BENTLEY, Emma   mms.      BROWN
1848  DecQ   Nantwich  Vol 19  Page 162

BENTLEY, Sarah   mms      BROWN
1851  DecQ   Nantwich  Vol 19  Page 190

BENTLEY, Mary    mms      BROWN
1854  DecQ   Nantwich  Vol 08A  Page 253

BENTLEY, Alfred   mms       BROWN
1856  JunQ   Nantwich   Vol 08A  Page 313

BENTLEY, Elizabeth  mms     BROWN
1861  SepQ  Nantwich    Vol 08A  Page 292

I am not seeing birth of James b. ~ 1844 as BENTLEY or BROWN.

Is he born to a first marriage for Mary BROWN?
