You might find something in Beattie, Alastair G & Beattie, Margaret H (1996) Pre-1855 Gravestone Inscriptions in Inverness District - East. Scottish Genealogy Society : Edinburgh. A few years earlier so might have caught inscriptions that were fading. Not everyone had a gravestone though.

Thanks for that suggestion. I didn't know of that book and looked it up. Unfortunately it is out of stock on Amazon so I may not be able to get a copy of it here in Canada.
Her husbands gravestone is pretty clear with her name on it but it doesn't look like there was ever dates added to her name.

When I looked at the HighlandFamilyHistorySociety web site under the surname Rose I found the name Catherine in Plot 50 the same as her husband and the year of death given as 1854. At first I thought I had found when she died but now I think they are just repeating the information on the stone which does give her maiden name and his date of death as 1854.

That is what I understood too, Rodger.

Pity the key data is missing from the stone for Catherine  :-\
