Mining - working/moving abroad
« on: Friday 10 April 20 16:49 BST (UK) »
A very general query.

I had ancestors who ended up in Michigan - connected with mining.

Are there books/studies out there that have been written about the lives of the Cornish, what possessed them to work so far away, how they managed and how families emigrated. I'm looking mainlt at 19th/early 20th century.

Thank you

Cornish miners were in demand all over the world!

The Cornish diaspora consists of Cornish people and their descendants who emigrated from Cornwall, United Kingdom. The diaspora is found within the United Kingdom, and in countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, Mexico, Panama, South Africa, the Samoas and Brazil.
