Not knowing the 'rules' but could your John born 1858 be a British subject if his father was born in the Netherlands, unless of course his mother was the qualifying factor

Hi all and thank you for your replies,
I do have another John woods on the 1901 census, b1837  Newington London, living 67 outram road east ham Essex, occupation watchman buildings, d1907 west ham Essex, the reason this stands out is west/east ham essex is the connection to the Woods family, the problem I have is I can not find anymore on this John Woods, I was wondering who registered the death in 1907, would I have to order or download a death certificate and at what cost, as said I can not find any other information on John Woods, any help would be great, thank you.

Yes you would have to order the death certificate to find out who registered the death.  You can still order downloads from the GRO but they would rather you did not at the moment unless it is urgent.  PDF cost £7.

Hi and thank you for your reply, I would love to find his mother, a article years ago stated that there were working boat people back and forth from the uk to Holland, perhaps they lived and worked on the boats? thanks again.
