What happened to Georgiana Owen?
« on: Sunday 12 April 20 09:43 BST (UK) »
Georgiana Owen appears on the 1861 census as the 4 year old daughter of William Owen, living in Reading.
Piece: 746, Folio: 5 Page Number:3
Also in the household is William's wife Caroline nee Blissett, who he married in 1861. As both Caroline and Geogiana were born in Chilton, Berks and William in Kingsclere, Hants, I suspect Georgiana is Caroline's illegitimate daughter.
I cannot find Geogiana birth registration either as Owen or Blisset, nor can I find her after 1861.
I have William and Caroline with later children in several later censuses.
Can anyone find what happened to Georgiana please.?

The WINTERBOURNE family....other children, Kingsclere - mms OWEN

Frederick William 1882 Kingslere
Arabella Eva 1883
Letitia 1885
Caroline Milly 1886

And there is a tree onlin A** that indeed claims Georgina Rose to be the daughter of William Owen and Caroline Blisset. The tree has the marriage date as 05 May 1878

Thank you. I had found this marriage through an Ancestry hint. I wasn't 100% convinced, but I couldn't find any other Georgina Owen of the right age. The 1881 census says she was born in Kingsclere, but I can't find any matching birth registration for a Georgina or a Rose.
Also no sign of her in 1871.

This one in 1871 census. Her name is Rosetta in this one.

Worth looking at.

Thank you. That looks like her and her father. Caroline is on her own in Reading with the two younger children and a James Girdler age 11 is with them. It says he's a visitor, but could be a relative and part of the Kingsclere Girdler family. The place of birth is a bit odd, Steventon about 5 miles from Chilton.

Thank you again. On the image it says that William Owen is wife's brother, but looking at mmn for Minnie Girdler, it says Patey not Owen.  ??? Maybe half siblings?

His wife is Mary Ann about same age. Possibly a twin of William?
