This is a photo taken on Christmas Eve, 2006 from Achduart looking across Loch Broom

Annabella died 1872 also registered Coigach.

I don't think this is the correct Annabella as this one was married to a Murdoch and they lived at
Rieff, which is at the extreem west of the Coigach peninsular - a good  way from Achduart,

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Achduart https://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NC0503

Yes that's where I lived  ;D ;D ;D

I have masses of info on the area, Sue, but it's filed away so it will take me a while to get out the info that you'll need.

I think the McLeod/McLean household was this one

https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7289

The old tree to the right of the photo finally fell down in a gale in about 2005.

The house had an extension built on the near side. It was a workshop and then became a living room when the Mitchells bought it in the 1980s.

You are right Gadget it is the wrong Annabelle, it serves me right for searching using the two surnames. Until now I did not realise that everyone in the area seems to be a McLeod or a McLean. I have looked at Alexander's birth in 1869 it is too was Achduart. Under where it would normally say when his parents were married it says at Assynt about 17 years ago which fits with 1852.

I think we need to know where Sue found them in 1871 because I cannot see anything on SP that matches with the ages in 1861, perhaps they moved from Achduant.

Bits are coming back to me about them. I'm sure Annabella was a servant over in Assynt. Assynt is the next parish to the north.  I can't be sure but I'm wondering if Angus was from there. I recall trying to work them out  :-\

I do hope that I can find my notes as I spoke to various 'locals' about them and, of course, many others.

PS - they're not on Don's listing either.

If I can't find anything in my notes, it might be worth Sue contacting* the Ullapool Museum.. They have masses of local records and are very helpful

http://ullapoolmuseum.co.uk/

* sadly, it would be after the lockdown as it's closed at the moment.
