Hartney of Ballingarry
« on: Sunday 12 April 20 16:31 BST (UK) »
John Hartney joined the RIC on 15th June 1850 aged 22. Previously, a labourer he was recommended by Henry Langley JP. He was allocated a post in County Down on 1st October 1850. He resigned on 18th March 1855 and later joined the Dublin Metropoitan police. Whilst in Co Down he appears to have married Mary Murray from Kircubbin (but cannot locate the marriage). I think he died in Dublin 1873 (aged 45).

According to Jim Hehirly's book on the DMP, John Hartney was born in 1830 in Ballingarry, County Tipperary.

Looking for some leads on the Hartney family or variations on the surname Hartney in the Ballingarry area.

This was in 1850.
