Could be an older son, between Mary and Louisa, but can't find him.

Only one seems to be ...

The Mary Kerr, mother of Louisa, is the daughter of the Mary, formerly Jenkins, who married Gevert. On later census entries, Mary Kerr is noted as widow, but the 1871 entry looks like Unm to me.

There's a burial entry for Mary Morlken aged 42 28 July 1857 of 6 Charles St.

Gevert was a bachelor on his marriage to Mary Kurr.

There's a workhouse admission & discharge for some of the Morkin family in 1856 suffering from fever. Gevert is Grayford, Claus is Clousey. There's a 12 year old David, he may be Gevert junior.

I mentioned this earlier but if Charles Howe Kerr, baptised Feb 1866, son of Charles and Mary of 43, Plumbers Row is the same child as ‘Charles Kerr How’ registered December quarter 1865, his mother’s name is Smith in the registration.

I presume the names were reversed by mistake in the registers.

could be that Mary was covering up a lack of husband?

With regard to the original post, we should note that Louisa's mother's maiden name was Kurr.

With regard to the original post, we should note that Louisa's mother's maiden name was Kurr.  :)

The original post reads:
Charles Kerr is my great great grandfather on my mothers side
On my great grandmother birth certificate (Louisa Mary) born 18/8/1861 Charles is the father  mother Mary Kerr formerly Morken

There is no mention of Kurr.

The 1861 birth for Louisa Mary Kerr has mmn Morken.
The 1865 birth for Charles has mmn Smith.

I would think  Charles Kerr was an invented name.

There is no mention of Kurr.

... but we now know that Mary's name at birth was Kurr, she only became Morken by virtue of her mother's second marriage.
