I haven't ordered from the GRO before,  I completed the order form until the last question

 "Please type your personal reference for this application"

What does that mean?

It just means you put in anything you like that means something to you, such as a name or date or location.

I never use the field; as Stan suggests you can use it to put a personal reference in, maybe if you are doing a tree for someone else you can put their family name there.
