Hello

Herbert E Smith is in my family tree as my third cousin was married to his sister Sarah.
He was of Gypsy heritage.
He was born in Andersons lane Lincoln 1894, one of 10 kids.
His dad was Isiah Smith born in North Scarle 1859, his mum was Sarah (nee Wilson) born Lincoln 1858.

i have just looked at a picture of Herbert grave stone he was 67 years old when he died

On Find a Grave
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/158617791

But death reg has him two years older
June 1964  Lincoln 3b 303
Smith, Herbert E.
age 69

If the info on Find a Grave is correct(?), Herbert was previously married to Hilda Earl (which was in 1919, as plain Herbert)

That couple seem to be together in Lincoln on the 1939 Register.
Free index has Herbert Smith born 1894, at 103 Goldsmith Walk.

Herbert Smith of 103 Goldsmith Walk is in the Lincolnshire Echo, 7 December 1932.
Something about a radio pole

thanks for the reply Herbert was married before to Hilda and believe they had a son called Edwin g smith born 1924. dont know what happend to him.

With his parents in 1939

It doesn't look right to me.

You are implying that a Ethel maxted wed a man 55 year her senior?

If Herbert was b 1894 he was 55 when he married Ethel in 1949.

If I have the right Ethel she was b 1921 making her 27yrs younger than Herbert

5 children were born to that marriage between 1949-1959 - 3 of whom were triplets

Do you have a copy of the 1949 marriage cert confirming Herbert's age & that his father was Josiah?
