Hi all,
So after a very successful Free Easter Weekend on Ancestry I have a lot of gaps filled but a few questions but one question is still plaguing me.
Timeline of events:
1812/13 Sarah Andrews baptised in Maiden Newton. This was worked out from the following info:
The 1861 census gives Sarah's age as 49 born in Maiden Newton Dorset.
The 1851 census gives Sarah's age as 38 and born in Dorset.
In 1838 Sarah married William Legg in Winfrith Newburgh, Dorset. This is confirmed by the record of the marriage on the Dorset OPC site for the parish.
http://www.opcdorset.org/WinfrithNewburgh/WinfrithNewburghMarrs1837-1873.htm15 / 10 / 1838 William Legge a widow married Sarah Andrews a spinster.
His father William a farmer).
Her father William (a dairyman).
Sarah Andrews is not showing as baptised on in Maiden Newton:

(1) a Sarah Maey Andrews shows on these in Melbury Osmond, Dorset (looks about 6/8 miles from Maiden Newton)
I was then considering what if Sarah was married before her marriage to William Legg but she gave status as spinster on the Winfrith Newburgh wedding.
Nothing on that theory so far.
Here are the questions.
- Where are the Maiden Newton Baptisms for between 1800 - 1820?
- Could Sarah Maey Andrews be the right Sarah Andrews?
Thanks in advance for any advice, theories or answers.
I'm off to bed in a moment to rest my tired brain.
Neil.
